Angus Kerr in the Viper 4 cruiser took Bruce Morris for a ride, while Lucas Kerr in a freshly painted custom plywood Renegade with a standard Yamaha PE485 2 stroke engine took Kirra Seymour as passenger.

Les Taylor in the Phoenix took Japanese exchange student Naoki Ishikawa, and Michael Stephenson did the filming with Dieter Renisch from the back seat of a TP6 commanded by Peter Venn. Steve Stephens travelled to the club venue in "No Wheel Drive" from the southern end of Russell lsland with Judith onboard. President Ben Woodhead went out alone in the Turbo XP 960 but came back with Dieter Renisch who jumped ship after the TP6 had to make an early return to base. Lucas Kerr also made an early return after discovering a cracked fan blade. Lucas the youngest hovercraft commander on the journey, managed to secure the cracked blade with electrical tape and nursed the light weight craft back to base on minimum revs.

Queensland State Rally:
The next Queensland State Rally will be held at Lake Coolmunda over the 4 days: 6th to 9th of July 2018. Powered sites at the caravan park can be secured by phoning Troy or Idalia on 07 4652 4171 or 0418 665692. There will also be plenty of unpowered sites near the waters edge. Quiet generators are ok during daylight hours.
The lake has proven to be one of the most suitable hovercrafting destinations in Australia, as confirmed by the successful "Sam Waugh Memorial AHF National Rally 2017".

Next club cruise:-
The next club cruise will be another camping weekend on the 12th and 13th May at Lake Somerset about two hours north of Brisbane.
Meet at the Lake Somerset Holiday Park at Kirkleigh on Saturday morning for an extended cruise around the lake.
