As usual there was no planning meeting in December, but dates for the Christmas party and the December and January cruises had been planned at the November meeting.

Christmas Party - Sunday 3rd December 2017.
The Christmas party was held on Sunday 3rd December 2017 at Les and Sandy Taylor's home at MacKenzie. Twelve people enjoyed a delightful barbeque with salads and desserts.
Ben Woodhead, Narelle Woodhead, Gowan Woodhead, Calum Woodhead, Steve Stephens, Judith Christensen, Kim Allen, Dieter Renisch, Peter Venn and Steven Odgaard.
Les Taylor showcased his Seabaru Hovercraft and demonstrated the Subaru engine running in a test rig frame.

Cruise report - Muriel St, Redland Bay - Sunday 17th December 2017.

The last club cruise was held on Sunday 17th December 2017, launching from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay courtesy of Peter and Elaine Venn.

The final cruise for the year saw Cle Sheck and Caroline Hunter with their family; Aven Sheck, Amy Hunter and Brianna Hunter. Ben Woodhead, Narelle Woodhead, Gowan Woodhead, Calum Woodhead, Turbo XP 960, Neil Budworth, Peter Venn, Elaine Venn, TP6, Expo Turbo Wedge 240, Hoverjet, Kim and James Allen - Zesty, Les Taylor - Phoenix, Dieter Renisch, Michael Stephenson and Susan Stephenson - Baffle, Angus Kerr, Lucas Kerr Viper 4 Cruiser, Steven Odgaard, Dwayne's Revtech Rocket.
18 people and 9 hovercraft.

The morning cruise to Russell Island included Kim and James Allen in Zesty, Les Taylor and Dieter Renisch in the Phoenix, Angus Kerr and Lucas Kerr in the Viper 4 Cruiser, Michael Stephenson and Susan Stephenson in Baffle. Michael took a wrong turn up the Logan River and went all the way to Serpentine Creek before turning about and heading home with the aid of GPS coordinates from Kim Allen via mobile phone. Les Taylor, Kim Allen and Steven Odgaard and James Allen went out to rescue the wanderers and we all returned stirred but not shaken in time for the Christmas hamper draw.

Local News:-
Prices for shirts established. $30 club and $28 LC rally.
SEQ water no longer require permits for Somerset Dam and Moogerah Dam but the 6 knot zone has been extended.
Steve Stephens applied for a permit renewal under varying conditions to the last term.

Queensland State Rally:
The next Queensland State Rally will be held at Lake Coolmunda over the 4 days: 6th to 9th of July 2018. Powered sites at the caravan park can be secured by phoning Troy or Idalia on 07 4652 4171 or 0418 665692. There will also be plenty of unpowered sites near the waters edge. Quiet generators are ok during daylight hours.
The lake has proven to be one of the most suitable hovercrafting destinations in Australia, as confirmed by the successful "Sam Waugh Memorial AHF National Rally 2017".

The next club cruise will be held on Sunday 14th January 2018 at Muriel St, Redland Bay.
Meet at 9:00am at 96 Muriel St, Redland Bay for a launch into the Redland Bay Channel.

Next Queensland branch meeting:
The next club meeting will be held on Tuesday 16th January 2018 at 7:30pm.
It will be held in the Coopers Plains Library at 107 Orange Grove Road, Coopers Plains.
There is plenty of parking at the rear of the library building via Bosworth Street off Orange Grove Road.
