Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch of The Australian Hovercraft Federation held a planning meeting on Tuesday, 15th March 2016, at the Coopers Plains Library in Orange Grove Road.
This meeting was attended by:-

Publicity Officer:- Steve Stephens

Other members attending were Arthur Stead, Dwayne Morgan, Angus Kerr, Bill Toppin, Dieter Renisch, Michael Stephenson, Les Taylor, Kim Allen and Gunter Prischl.
Visitors for the evening were Kerri Audsley & Larry Lewis (one of the original Expo 88 hovercraft pilots, & Air Cushion Vehicle Coxwains ticket).

Cruise report - Muriel St, Redland Bay - Sunday 13nd March 2016.

The last club cruise was held on Sunday 13th March 2016, launching from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay courtesy of Peter and Elaine Venn. Three separate cruises were held during the day.
Those attending the cruise with craft were:-

Peter Venn Turbo TP6 powered by a Subaru 1800 EA81 and 18hp Honda.
Hoverjet.
Angus Kerr Viper Cruiser powered by a Subaru 1800 EA81.
Ben Woodhead Black Turbo Vortex powered by a Suzuki Swift engine.
Cle Sheck Turbo Superwedge 235 - Spider Spray.
James King Revtech Renegade - MerIN.
Viper 5XC.
Karl Bowman Viper 4X.
Kim Allen Turbo Wedge 240 - Justy 2.
Les Taylor Turbo Superwedge 235 - Phoenix.

Rain easing with fresh breeze. James King in Revtech “MerIN” set off at 9:50 am northward along Redland Bay Passage. He was followed by Kim and James Allen in the Turbo 240 Wedge “Tool City”, Les Taylor & Dieter Renisch in the Turbo 235 Superwedge “Phoenix” and Ben Woodhead in a Vortex.

The morning cruise was a trip to the Logan River. Angus and Lucas Kerr in a Viper cruiser, Karl Bowman in a Viper 4X, Kim & James Allen in the Turbo Wedge 240 “Tool City”, Elisha King in “MerIN”, Peter Venn with passengers Michael and Susan Stephenson & Larry Franks in the TP6, James King in Viper 5XC camouflage, Ben Woodhead in the Vortex and Les Taylor in the Phoenix. All returned by 10:40 am except Elisha and Karl. Peter Venn went to the rescue and towed Karl Bowman behind the TP6 returning at 12:15 pm.
Cle and Aven Sheck had a few problems with the Turbo 235 Superwedge “Spider Spray”, and Ben had 3 good runs in the Vortex but was towed in by a passing boat at 1:10 pm.

After lunch from 2:05 pm the afternoon cruise was dominated by James, Elisha and Karl as they swapped between craft and Peter Venn in the Hoverjet. Most left by 3:00 pm and Steven and Bill left at 5:00 pm. Steven Odgaard counted the pulley teeth on a Turbo 240 for Buck Rogers in Dubbo. 20 x 48.

Annual General Meeting:-
Our latest AGM was held on 15th March 2016.
All positions were declared vacant and Kerri Audsley chaired the meeting for the election of office bearers which proceeded as follows:-

President - Ben Woodhead steps up from Vice President
Vice President - Peter Venn swaps with Ben Woodhead
Treasurer - Phil Audsley continues as treasurer
Secretary - Steven Odgaard remaining as secretary
Publicity Officer - Steve Stephens keeps doing publicity & newsletters

General business:-
Peter Venn visited Jeremy Ludlow in WA last fortnight and suggested that members Mike Campbell, Stuart Herring and Neil Kentish meet quarterly, open a HCWA club bank account and work together to promote membership growth.

Peter also offered his small tinny with outboard as a club safety boat. Bill Toppin moved that the club pays the registration bill for it, & fit it out with a tow mat etc.

Steve Stephens moved that we write a letter of congratulations to the HCGB on their 50th anniversary and continuous operation as an incorporated club since July 1966.

Steve Stephens moved that we write a letter to the Goondiwindi Shire council seeking permission to hold a state rally on Lake Coolmunda

The next club cruise will be held on Sunday 10th April 2016 at Muriel St, Redland Bay.
Meet at 9:00 am at 96 Muriel St, Redland Bay for a launch into the Redland Bay Channel.

This months cruise coincides with Tingira Boat Club's "Macleay Island Classic" circumnavigation canoe race starting at 11:00 am from 91 Coast Rd., half way up the west coast of Macleay Island. (27° 36'S, 153° 21'E) which is 1.5 kms south of the Dalpura bay boat ramp & 15 kms from Peter & Elaine's place. Canoeists from interstate come up for the well-attended event. Next Queensland branch meeting:
The next club meeting will be held on Tuesday 19th April 2016 at 7:30pm.
It will be held in the Coopers Plains Library at 107 Orange Grove Road, Coopers Plains.
There is plenty of parking at the rear of the library building via Bosworth Street off Orange Grove Road.
