August 2012
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the AUSTRALIAN HOVERCRAFT FEDERATION Inc (Vic)

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch of The Australian Hovercraft Federation held a planning meeting on Tuesday, 21st August 2012, at the RC primary school, 350 Mortimer Road, Acacia Ridge.
This meeting was attended by:-

President:- Peter Venn
Treasurer:- Phillip Audsley
Secretary:- Steven Odgaard

Other members attending were Angus Kerr, Arthur Stead and Bill Toppin.
Visitors for the evening were Rita Chaffey, Kerri Audsley, Brett Smith and Neil Budworth.

Cruise report - Pumicestone Passage, Sunday 19th August 2012.

The last club cruise was held on Sunday 19th August 2012 on the Pumicestone Passage.
Those attending the cruise were:-

Peter and Elaine Venn - Turbo TP6.
Angus Kerr and Anne Torrance - Viper.
Steven Odgaard and Rita Chaffey - BBV2 (static display).

Others attending the cruise were:-
Bill Toppin and Arthur and Judy Stead.

The group met at the Ningi boat ramp in Kal-Ma-Kuta Drive at 9:00 am. The two craft were launched at 9:45 am and headed north through the Pumicestone Passage with Peter, Elaine and Bill travelling in the TP6 and Angus and Anne in the Viper. They arrived at the Golden Beach lighthouse at 10:50 am and when the land crew arrived a short time later, had lunch in a Sunshine Coast park between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm.

Steven and Rita drove Angus's Toyota Twin Cab diesel ute (with the Viper trailer attached) to Golden Beach as the road support vehicle for the cruise. Arthur and Judy arrived soon after to help enjoy the peaceful and relaxing break on the foreshore. Arthur had been up late trying to complete a mechanical repair on the Renegade but could not ready the craft in time. Arthur had been very keen to participate in this cruise on the Pumicestone Passage.

The Viper and TP6 headed off from Golden Beach around 12:50 pm and arrived safely back at the Ningi boat ramp just before 2:00 pm. With only a minor electrical fault in the TP6 ignition switch, the cruise was conducted in almost perfect weather and without incident from Water Authorities, fishermen or other bay users.

Thanks to Elaine and Judy for a nice picnic spread to finish off the afternoon.
