A branch of the AUSTRALIAN HOVERCRAFT FEDERATION Inc (Vic)

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch of The Australian Hovercraft Federation held a planning meeting on Tuesday, 15th March 2011, in the Staff Room of the RC primary school, 350 Mortimer Road, Acacia Ridge.
This meeting was attended by:-

Vice President:- Des Goss
Treasurer:- Phillip Audsley
Secretary:- Steven Odgaard

Other members attending were Peter Venn, Arthur Stead, and Rod Jensen.
Visitor for the evening was Rita Chaffey and Dan Logovik.

Leaderboard Challenge report - Flying Fish Hovercraft - Sunday 6th March 2011.

For the club visit we had a total of 21 people at the Flying Fish.
Those attending the Flying Fish hovercross circuit were:-

Peter & Elaine Venn, David, Anna & Thomas Venn, Arthur & Judy Stead, Rod & Caryl Jensen, Angus Kerr & Anne, Des Goss, Dale Baxter, Alan Harm, John Lee, Dan Logovik, Rita Chaffey, Steven Odgaard and our hosts, Russ, Emma & Hetty Pullen.

We had a fun afternoon on the single craft circuit at the Flying Fish next door to the Big Fish Tavern. Russ and Emma have set up a hovercraft fun track beside the Bruce Highway on the disused go-cart track north of Caboolture.

Each participant had a 3 lap trial in turn and then Russ timed everyone again on a two lap test.
Russ and Emma put on a pot of tea and a spread of tasty treats, then announced the lap results just as a heavy shower of rain set in. Dan Logovik, John Lee and Rita Chaffey were taken for a few laps as passenger behind the skilled commander Russ Pullen in the twilight before packing up.

Results:-

Des Goss - 1:47.8
Steven Odgaard - 1:48.5
Angus Kerr - 1:48.7
David Venn - 1:55.2
Dale Baxter - 1:55.7
Peter Venn - 2:02.8
Arthur Stead - 2:11.3
Alan Harm - 2:48.6

Not content with one delightful activity for the month of March, Chairman Goss called for a second outing so he could render his adrenalin craving.

Cruise report - Muriel Street, Redland Bay, Saturday 12th March 2011.

This cruise was held on Saturday 12th March 2011 from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay courtesy of Peter Venn. Those attending the cruise were:-

Peter Venn & Arthur Stead - Turbo TP6 powered by a Subaru 1800 & Honda twin cylinder.
Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225 powered by a Robin EC44.
Steven Odgaard - Expo Turbo powered by a 51hp Yamaha PE485.

Visitors at Lagoon Passage were Dale Baxter who did a dash for the front gate to go cruising in his boat, and Peter D’Arcy–Evans who has purchased a Hoverguard 800 from John Dean of Bonogin.

The three craft launched into Lagoon Passage and travelled to Macleay Island for a very pleasant morning tea at the Blue Parrot Café.

Elaine & Judy drafted a list of activities for the National Rally with volunteers allocated various tasks. Arthur Stead presented a programme guide. Steven showed everyone the SeqWater application before mailing it out to the recreation support officer.

Technical Topics:-
Steven showed his plumbing skills by replacing a burst downpipe at the corner of Peter and Elaine’s home. One of the tricks to owning a hovercraft trailer is to watch the mudguards carefully when driving along a narrow lane.
