Cruise report - Kirkleagh, Lake Somerset - Saturday 5th February 2011.

The last club cruise was held on Saturday 5th February 2011 at Kirkleagh on Lake Somerset.
Those attending the cruise were:-

Peter and Elaine Venn - Turbo TP6 powered by a Subaru 1800 & Honda twin cylinder.
David, Anna and Thomas Venn - Hoverjet powered by two Rowena engines.
Larry and Di lewis - Expo Turbo powered by a Yamaha PE485 51hp 2 stroke.

Dale Baxter - ASV Vortex powered by a Rotax 532, 2 cylinder 2 stroke.

Friends and visitors attending the cruise were:-
Phillip Audsley, Bill Toppin (Volvo), Rod and Karen Jensen and Peter Darcy (Hoverguard 800) and John O'Grady from Currumbin based Build-a-Boat school.

After meeting at Fernvale we travelled in convoy to Esk, but split up after a detour around flood damaged roads caused a bit of confusion. Some went via Mt. Beppo and some went via Harlin. We all met up at Kirkleagh and Dale Baxter arrived via Caboolture and Kilcoy.

Five craft launched into Lake Somerset at Kirkleagh and a wild and windy northerly brought us some soaking rain, but a nice trip was held when the wind finally settled down at around 2:30pm. We enjoyed lunch and billy tea at the campsite and the days cruise wrapped up at 5:00pm.

The cost of a permit for a vessel is $15.00.

Other News:-
Russ Pullen wishes to reclass air cushion vehicles for commercial use on non-navigateable inland waters and wetland. Coxwains ticket is presently required.

John Dean of Bonogin has sold his Hoverguard 800 to Peter Darcy.
