June 2010
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the AUSTRALIAN HOVERCRAFT FEDERATION Inc (Vic)

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch of The Australian Hovercraft Federation held a planning meeting on Tuesday, 15th June 2010, in Room 15 - Our Lady of Fatima RC primary school, 350 Mortimer Road Acacia Ridge. This meeting was attended by:-
Phillip Audsley, Peter Venn, Arthur Stead, Tony Hogben and Steven Odgaard.

Cruise report - Muriel Street, Redland Bay, Saturday 5th June 2010.

The last club cruise was held on Saturday 5th June 2010 from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay courtesy of Peter Venn. Those attending the cruise were:-

Peter Venn - Turbo TP6 powered by a Subaru 1800 & Honda twin cylinder.
Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225 powered by a Robin EC44.
Arthur Stead - Revtech Renegade powered by a 20hp Honda 2 cylinder.
Steven Odgaard - Billy Baker 2 - (static display only).

Peter Venn and Arthur Stead returned from their trip to Lake Macquarie and Lake Illawarra just in time for the Queensland branch monthly cruise.

Three craft set off at 9:40 am northward from Lagoon Passage and headed to Coochiemudlo Island - Steven travelling with Peter in the Turbo TP6. The wind was mild and the bay was calm to moderate, and with the tide at a low, not much traffic on the water to contend with.

We found that our favourite stomping ground on the island - The Mathew Flinders Cafe - had closed down since our last visit and was no longer trading, so we walked to the milk bar by the ferry terminal and had morning tea.

We ventured back via Macleay Island, the W's channel intersection and Long Island. We returned to base at 12:30 pm and rested in Elaine's dining lounge to watch an old article on South Australian hovercraft in an episode of Leyland Brothers World from the late 1970's.
