May 2010
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the AUSTRALIAN HOVERCRAFT FEDERATION Inc (Vic)

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch of The Australian Hovercraft Federation held a planning meeting on Tuesday, 18th May 2010, in Room 15 - Our Lady of Fatima RC primary school, 350 Mortimer Road Acacia Ridge. This meeting was attended by:-
Des Goss, Peter Venn, Arthur Stead, Dale Baxter and Steven Odgaard.

Cruise report - Muriel Street, Redland Bay, Saturday 1st May 2010.

The last club cruise was held on Saturday 1st May 2010 from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay courtesy of Peter Venn. Those attending the cruise were:-

Peter Venn - Turbo TP6 powered by a Subaru 1800 & Honda twin cylinder.
Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225 powered by a Robin EC44.
Arthur Stead - Revtech Renegade powered by a 20hp Honda 2 cylinder.
Steven Odgaard - Billy Baker 2 - (static display only).

Three craft cruised down the boat ramp at 96 Muriel Street and headed south past the Logan River, stopping briefly at Little Rocky Point before continuing on to Cabbage Tree Point. We then turned east to Tabby Tabby Island and Short Island before landing on Stingaree Island near Jumpinpin Bar.

Steven and his picnic gear had hitched a ride with Peter Venn in the Turbo TP6, so we had three brews of tea and two rounds of pikelets with jam and fresh cream while on the island. Steven also enjoyed a quick dip in the clear Jumpinpin waters - a last swim before winter.

On our return via Russell Island and Cobby Cobby, we stopped for a break at the stockyards on the southern end of the majestic slipping sands. We had nice weather for the day with a light breeze and clear blue skies.

Glen and Liam Dunn Marler came at 11:30 am and enjoyed a run north along the Lagoon Passage with Peter Venn while young Callum preferred to stay on the terrace and play in the white sand near the boat ramp. Elaine Venn served a fresh healthy ham and salad lunch for all.

Other News:-
Unfortunately, Peter had to report that the office at 12 Veronica St is closed and the club has found an alternative meeting room back in the vicinity of Archerfield Aerodrome. Room 15 at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School is 1 nautical mile from the old SAAA site as the crow flies, or 2.1 kilometres via Beatty Rd and Mortimer Rd.
