September 2007
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch held a planning meeting at the Sporting Aircraft Association of Australia hall at Archerfield Aerodrome on Tuesday, 18th September 2007 which was attended by Des Goss, Phillip Audsley, Peter Venn, Arthur Stead, Arthur Gangell and Steven Odgaard.

Cruise report - Boggy Creek, Pinkenba - Saturday, 15th September 2007.

The last cruise was on Saturday 15th September from Boggy Creek, Pinkenba to Juno Point, Jackson's Creek and Kedron Brook Floodway.
Taking part in this cruise were:-

Peter Venn, Elaine and Rusty - Turbo TP6
Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225
Steven Odgaard - Billy Baker 2.

Also at the Boggy Creek launch area were Angus and Lucas Kerr, Arthur Stead, Tony Hogben, Jenny and Michael Nobel. Apology from Arthur Gangell who didn't receive the message that the date had changed from Sunday to Saturday.

We launched into Boggy Creek from a camping ground off Bancroft Road and cruised up to the mouth of the Brisbane River and into the more exposed waters around Juno Point. Steven stopped at Juno Point to replace a fouled spark plug and dry off a damp lead. Des and Peter Venn came back looking for Steven, and after we set off again, Des decided to head up Jacksons Creek for protection from the rough bay conditions developing.

Steven stopped near the end of the Brisbane Airport runways to fix a skirt finger that

had been damaged, and the other two craft turned inland to escape the rough white water of the bay. Steven then ventured on to meet Arthur Stead and Tony Hogben at the Nudgee boat ramp in the Kedron Brook Floodway channel. After a quick phone call to check on the progress of the other craft, Steven replaced another damaged finger on the Billy Baker and headed back to regroup with Peter, Elaine, Rusty and Des for a pleasant cruise back along the Brisbane River and into the Boggy Creek launch site.

The day again finished off with a Billy tea. Peter, Elaine and Rusty then travelled back to Thorneside by hovercraft via the Fisherman Island Passage and along the front of the Wynnum, Manly foreshores. Angus and Lucas went back to Boral at Eagle Farm to work on their Cement truck.
