Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch held a planning meeting at the Sporting Aircraft Association of Australia
hall at Archerfield Aerodrome on Monday, 16th October 2006 which was attended by Phillip
Audsley, Des Goss, Peter Venn, Arthur Stead, Steven Odgaard, and Neville and Diane Finlay from
the SES in Toogoolawah.
Apologies from Angus Kerr.
Cruise report - The Boat Passage, Fisherman Island - Sunday 8th October 2006.
The last cruise was held at Fishermans Island on Sunday 8th October 2006 and was attended by
Angus and Lucas Kerr in their white Turbo Wedge 240,
Des Goss in his maroon Turbo Wedge 225,
Peter Ledwoch with friend Brench Wright in a Simple Cyclone,
Steven Odgaard in a Bill Baker 2 and
Phillip & Kerri Audsley in a yellow Turbo Wedge 225.
Ray Newton came along as a visitor.
The Whyte Island boat ramp was extremely busy when we met at 9:00 am, and close vehicle
parking was quite scarce. Phillip Audsley had a drive bearing failure on his yellow turbo, so it
stayed on the trailer for the day. The weather was very inviting early in the morning, but by
11:00 am a strong north easterly built up and all the small boats came in earlier then expected
causing a traffic jam on the waterway.

The hovercraft ventured north towards the main Brisbane channel but were turned back by rough
conditions, so a second trek was followed in the lee which took Angus Des and Peter southbound
to Wynnum. Only Augus was able to return against the strong gale (with 3 sets of car keys in his
pocket).
Des and Peter were retrieved by car and trailer at the beach near Wynnum thanks to some club
team work. Peter, Brench and Steven were the last to leave the ramp site after braving some billy
tea and a wild assortment of nuts and healthy snacks (supplied by Ann Dickinson) in a shelter in
the park.
Lake Cargelligo Video:-
A one hour video of the events held during the Australian National Rally at Lake Cargelligo was
shown at the October meeting. This video, taken by Peter Venn and Family, is now available on
DVD at a cost of $15.00, with the proceeds going to the Queensland Hovercraft Club and the
Australian Hovercraft Federation.
Other News:-
The cruise in December will be on Somerset Dam at the spit, about an hour and a half drive
north of Brisbane, approximately 110 kilometres. This will be the Christmas party for the surrounding
district SES branches, and they have requested the pleasure of our company on Saturday 9th
December 2006 at 9:00 am.
