Cruise report - Wynnum - Sunday 4th December 2005.
Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The December cruise was held at Wynnum on Sunday 4th December 2005.
Bill Kaald with a Turbo Wedge 235 arrived early after a long drive from Ballina.
Des Goss in a Turbo Wedge 225 and
Steven Odgaard in the Bill Baker Vehicle 2 joined him for a launch at the Glenora Street boat ramp.
Phillip and Kerri Audsley, Arthur and Judy Stead and Peter Frankland also came along to watch.
Arthur and Judy live within walking distance and it was good to see Arthur at a club outing so
soon after his third heart operation.
Mark Odgaard and Sylvia arrived from Wellington Pt on their Kawasaki Jetski and after a short run
we had a chat and thorough briefing on Bill’s hovercraft. This was Bill’s first club day with his own
craft. He has modified his craft back to a more standard design and with advice from Danny Venn
and Angus Kerr, has adjusted the fan pitch to improve the craft’s overall cruising performance.
Des’ Turbo performed very well and handled the worsening wind condition with ease but the Bill
Baker was struggling on the return leg of our short cruise in front of Wynnum. Phillip, Kerri, Peter
and Steven enjoyed lunch at the Fish Board to round off the last cruise for the year.
Bill Kaald reported that Peter Ledwoch and Ann Dickinson of Mermaid Waters took their Simple
Cyclone to Ballina for a run on the last weekend in November.
Peter has installed a new fuel tank in the rear of the craft.
With Bill and Peter keen to cruise, the Queensland club may see a return to the days when at
least 5 hovercraft operate together in monthly events.
