Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)

Cruise report - Fisherman Islands - Sunday 9th October 2005.

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The October cruise was attempted at Fisherman Island near the mouth of the Brisbane River, but due to strong winds, nobody dared to venture out in the rough conditions. Three hovercraft in attendance.

Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225.
Phillip Audsley - Turbo Wedge 225.
Steven Odgaard - Billy Baker Vehicle 2.

Des Goss, Phillip and Kerri Audsley and Steven Odgaard arrived and talked about the craft, Steven's trailer modifications, and the weather and then we called it a day.

By contrast, the meeting on Monday 17th October was very informative with Arthur Stead showing us video clippage of a recent visit to Starcruiser Hovercraft in Wisconsin and Universal Hovercraft in Illinois.
Peter Venn gave an interesting commentary as Arthur ran the film.
It was great to see Bill and Lin Kaald again, who had travelled great distance to be at the meeting on that entertaining and educational night. Bill and Lin live in Ballina.
David Legg (affectionately known as the worm digger) has overcome the difficulties in seeking council, Department of Transport and Department of Environment and Heritage approval to give joyrides at Tangalooma and is seeking an additional coxswain to help with this commercial venture.
Peter Venn will be travelling south next month to work with Nell Fabrications of Huskisson in an attempt to complete a prototype Viper 6 or Humming Bird.
Peter believes this craft will be a great addition to the Queensland branch’s monthly cruise fleet and boasts that he will travel to our regular launch sites via Moreton Bay channels and estuaries rather than by car and trailer.
