July 2005
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)
Cruise report - Clontarf - Sunday 10th July 2005.
Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The July cruise was held on Sunday the 10th at Clontarf. There were 4 craft:-
Angus Kerr - Turbo Wedge 240,
Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225,
Phillip Audsley - Turbo Wedge 225 and
Steven Odgaard - Bill Baker Vehicle 2.
Also in attendance: Kerri Audsley, Olivier (with Angus) and Tony Hogben.
A strong gale prevented anyone from attempting to launch.
Maximum wind gust recorded for the day at Redcliffe was 72kph. (38 knots)
Steven started both engines on the Bill Baker Vehicle and they performed well although the fuel
delivery pressure to the Robin lift engine is still too strong.
Des Goss suffered structural damage to his trailer so we occupied our fruitless morning by helping
Des to splint his trailer so that it would be safe for his homeward journey.
Tony gave a brief report on progress with his full size craft which is a scaled up version of his
electric powered model.
Tony then made use of his time on the Redcliffe peninsular by visiting the Scarborough fish
markets for his favourite seafood diet - Kippers.
Next club cruise:-
The next cruise will be on Sunday 14th August 2005 at Eagleby.
Meet at 9:00am at the new boat ramp by the Pacific Highway bridge across the Logan River.
Access is via the service road on the eastern side of the highway and the ramp is on the southern
bank of the river.
Heading south from Brisbane, take the Logan Motorway exit and pass under the Motorway flyover
to continue along to the river and pass over the service road bridge which leads to Eagleby.
After crossing the bridge, the turnoff for the ramp is on the left.
This new facility has parking for 45 car & trailer combinations, 8 single cars and 2 restricted zones for
wheelchair loading.
The bitumen area is large, flat and level and the ramp is wide with smooth flush abutment
to the muddy river shore.
Next Queensland branch meeting:-
7:30pm Monday 15th August 2005.
SAAA hall at Archerfield Aerodrome.
