July 2004
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)
Cruise report - Clontarf - Sunday 11th July 2004.
Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The last cruise was held at Clontarf on Sunday 11th July 2004.
Des Goss and Angus and Lucas Kerr went on two trips.
The trip before lunch was to the South Pine River and after lunch they went to Scarborough.
Phillip Audsley didn’t venture far from the ramp and preferred to give short rides to friends who
turned up to see the club event.
World Hovercraft Championships:-
Angus reported that his Rocket hovercraft is now on its way to Germany and he will be leaving on
the 23rd August with mechanic and friend, Len Challem. Owen Ellis will be meeting them in Berlin
to assist and represent Australia at the 1994 World Hovercraft Championships.
On behalf of the Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club, the Australian Hovercraft Federation and
your mates back home, Good Luck in your competition heats and make Australia proud while
racing in Berlin Germany. Thanks must go to Owen for his assistance and support without which;
Angus would not be competing.
Hovercraft Insurance:-
Ken Osmond - president of the Australian Hovercraft Federation, has requested a list of names
and addresses so that our insurance broker may write to as many members as possible and
encourage increased numbers of insured hovercraft in Australia.
The broker: Advantage Jonstan has advised that with such low numbers of craft insured, the
underwriter is considering pulling out.
I cannot pass on this confidential information from the club records, without your expressed
permission. Due to the nature of the request, I would like to oblige so that we have the
opportunity to maintain general group insurance.
If you agree, could each of you send me a brief email saying:
"Insurance letter - permission granted."
If you think I may not have your correct PO Box address or mailing address then please add this
in your email reply. Alternatively, please contact the broker direct and ask for a copy of this
letter which they plan to send out to all club members.

Brisbane Riverfestival rehearsal:-
The Brisbane Riverfestival rivergames segment will be on Saturday 28th August 2004.
Same times as last year:-
Call is 1:30pm.
The hovercraft Bridge to Bridge display race is scheduled to start at 2:40pm.
The swimming team are not participating this year, so the tide direction has no relevance and the
race officials have decided to keep the direction the same as last year. That is:- Victoria Bridge
to Goodwill Games Bridge starting to the sound of a hand held air horn amplified through the public
address system.
Winsome Anderson will be there to interview new participants and to refresh her notes and
memory of people she met in 2002 and 2003.
Kerri Audsley has agreed to be finish line judge on the Goodwill Games bridge and David Odgaard
has agreed to be the back street driver to position marshals and commentator at thier strategic
positions.
I still need a photographer to be up on the Goodwill Games Bridge.
Any volunteers?
There will be a rehearsal for the Riverfestival bridge to bridge at 1:30pm on Saturday 14th August
2004. Launch at the boat ramp at Riverside Drive West End, near intersection of Hockings Street or
in view of the train bridge.
A young lady has asked if she can hitch a ride to her wedding on the 28th August and she will be
at the rehearsal for a trial run, if any of the lads are willing to oblige.
She will need a lift from the boat ramp to the South Brisbane Sailing Club at approximately
3:00pm, after the main display is over. Her name is Donna Toussaint.
Hope many from the club can come to see this exciting display.
Stolen hovercraft:-
Karl and Judy Bowman have reported a stolen Viper.
The registration number of the stolen craft is ADJ-973N.
