Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)
Cruise report - Hover-Tech demonstration - Sunday, 12th October 2003.
Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
On Sunday 12th October 2003, Angus Kerr invited some of his friends to see a Hover-Tech
demonstration at Victoria Point which was conducted by business partners, Michael Driscoll and
John Nielsen using a Hoverguard 800.
The demonstration started at 9:00 am and was conducted on the channel between Victoria Point
and Coochiemudlo Island. Members of the local Volunteer Marine Rescue unit were given rides
and they were generally impressed at the crafts ability to perform at various speeds in the rough
bay condition with 20 - 25 knots of wind coming from the south-east.
Present from the club scene were Angus Kerr, Tony Podlich and Dave Brooks who arrived in their
Scarab 2 weed sprayer craft and Kyle Kerr and friend, Lucas Kerr and Tony Podlich's young son.
Angus and Tony enroute from Cleveland Peninsular negotiated Eprapah Creek to pick up Dave
from his houseboat.
