June 2003
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)

Cruise report - Oyster Point, Cleveland - Sunday, 1st June 2003.

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
Despite perfect Queensland winter weather, the cruise yesterday for Oyster Point had to be postponed a second time. This was due to a lack of operational hovercraft. Only Des Goss was "ready and able", but when he was unable to confirm the attendance of any other craft, he decided to call it quits and stay at home.

The Queensland club was formed in October 1986.
This temporary ebb will not deter our enthusiasm to plan monthly cruises and meetings, and the occasional public display.

Brisbane Riverfestival - Bridge to Bridge:-
Riverfestival has asked our club to participate in a Bridge to Bridge display on the Brisbane River in front of South Bank on Saturday, 30th August. A rehearsal for this needs to be held so that the commentator can prepare the notes, and so the the participants will be able to perform in the display with utmost safety. On the day we will have a 15 minute segment.
Bryan Davidson has nominated Sunday, 10th August as a suitable day to practise.
Please consider this date and let me know if this suits all participants.

Lake Burley Griffin:-
Keep in mind the Endurance Race in Canberra.
December 2004.

Next club cruise:-
The next club cruise will be at Oyster Point, just south of Cleveland.
Sunday, 13th July 2003.
Launch at 10:00 am.

High Tide will be 1.72 metres at 8:51 am.
Low Tide will be 0.24 metres at 2:53 pm.
The last two attempts to hold a cruise from this spot failed due first to bad weather in May, then low attendance in June.
Like baseball, this will be a last strike at Oyster Point.

Next Queensland branch meeting:-
7:30 pm - Tuesday, 15th July 2003.
SAAA hall at Archerfield Aerodrome.
Beatty Road Qld 4108.
