October 2002
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the Australian Hovercraft Federation Inc (Vic)

Cruise report - Jacobs Well to South Stradbroke Island - Saturday, 26th October 2002.

Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The last trip I went on was with Angus Kerr to South Stradbroke Island. Angus and his young son Lucas had his white fibreglass Turbo Wedge 240, and I had the use of Phillip's yellow timber Turbo Wedge 225.
We left Jacob's Well boat ramp at about 1:30 pm and made our way east to the Bedroom's, then south to Tippler's resort and on to Southern Haven where we had lunch with the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club. The event was organised by Joy Roseneder and her husband and after lunch we gave rides for all the kids.
This is an annual event and the hovercraft rides were until recently provided courtesy of David Legg, also affectionately known as the worm digger. David has sold his hovercraft and so the Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club was approached for help.
The weather was quite rough with a 15 knot north-easter blowing all afternoon, but the bay islands provided enough lee to make safe passage.
We returned safely to Jacob's Well at 4:30 pm.

The Australian National Rally is approaching:-
The proposal is to hold it on the south coast of NSW at a town called Bermagui over Easter 2003. The national rally will also be time for the Australian Hovercraft Federation annual general meeting and we need to have 3 representatives from each state to attend and possibly to be nominated for positions on the national committee.
Please give this some serious thought.

Next club cruise:-
The cruise for November will be held at Wellington Point on Sunday, 24th November 2002.
Meet at the Wellington Point boat ramp for a 9:00 am launch.

Next Queensland branch meeting:-
7:30 pm - Tuesday, 19th November 2002.

If you have any suggestions please let us know before or at the meeting.
